info about EU sales
It is with a very heavy heart that I have to announce I 'm not able to ship to the EU at the moment.
Hopefully that won't be forever.
In their effort to reach net zero by 2050, the EU are clamping down on environmentally irresponsible packaging. This in itself is a very good thing. It will be the end of single use plastics and un-recyclable packaging materials and the beginning of new materials and innovation in the packaging industry. It is a change that NEEDS to happen to protect our precious planet.
BUT even though I already ship with minimal and recyclable packaging if I want to remain open to sell to all 27 member states, it looks like I have to complete 27 different registrations and pay 27 different sets of annual fees each year which could possibly amount thousand of Euros, even if I only send one or two parcels. And on top of that I’d need to keep technical files about my packaging, report on what I send and then pay recycling fees in each and every country.
This just isn't financially or energetically viable for a very small business like mine.
There is lots of contradicting info flying around at the moment so I'm listening and learning and trying to find a way forward. There may be something I have misunderstood, or there may be a workaround.
The law kicks in on August 12th so I have to pause for now while I figure everything out.
Please bear with me.
