Macro in the meadow

fox and cubs seed heads

I took the macro lens out for a walk yesterday and spent a lot of time lost in the grass! I love these 'Fox and Cubs' seed heads.

Fox and cubs flowers

These are the Fox and Cubs (Pilosella aurantiaca) that they belong to and I just read they are also called Tawny Hawkweed, Devils Paintbrush and Grim-the-collier after those tiny black hairs on the stems. Those look really scary up close in the macro lens I can tell you!

I told my friend Sarah they were called Fox and Cubs and the next year she remembered them as Cubs and Scouts...so now we call them that!

yellow hawkweed

I also loved getting close to this Hawkweed ( I don't know it's particular name, do you?)' Look at those curls!

meadowgrass

I will never tire of meadow grasses in all their delicate beauty. The blue in the background is a little cloud of harebells in the meadow.

grasshopper

The meadow was jumping with grasshoppers and I managed to catch one one my phone camera. It wasn't long before he hopped off but I thanked him for letting me get so close!
