Each year in the spring I publish my 'something I have noticed' journal. I made the first one in 2022, a couple of years after I started writing my Three Somethings email each week. It is always heartening to hear from my readers when they tell me how much they look forward to them and one reader, who said it had helped him get through lockdown suggested I should make them into a book.
So I did!
The first one was a gentle walk through the seasons, sharing how nature inspires my work. The second was all set to be the same but then I lost my studio in a devastating mill fire so the journal became the story of how nature (people included) helped me through that difficult year. The third one was a story of convalescence after a hysterectomy when I got quiet and still and noticed nature more than ever.
And this one, number four is a journey through a memorable year - a celebration of creativity and love and nature through the seasons. It's is a special one to me as it has our wild meadow wedding in it (that's the glorious midsummer high) and I write about the shaping of our vows and how nature was the inspiration.
But it's not all wedding! There's also trip to Iona, a sunrise walk along the cliffs at Robin Hood's Bay and many walks around our valley taking in buttercups, birdsong and bluebells, misty mornings, moonlight and more.
This journal has a lovely textured cover (a little nod to my linen wedding dress) and it feels so nice to hold.
Each of my journals is a collection of my photographs, illustrations/motifs and writing, because I now love writing as much as I like making my designs and products. And it's really lovely to have somewhere to put all my favourite photos from each year, see them in print and be able to offer them to you. I always loved having an annual when I was a kid (The Beano!). This is like the annual of my Three Somethings! I hope you might collect them and enjoy lining up their colourful spines on your bookshelf.
And each copy comes with a buttercup stem that you can use as a bookmark if you like.
You can order your copy of journal number four here and it will bring me great pleasure to send one to you.
