I've been enjoying a wonderful out pouring of new autumnal treasures in the studio this week.
All the surfaces now look like the forest floor!
I have a few leaf motifs in my design collection; oak, beech, hawthorn and horse chestnut and some of them have show up in my wallpaper, lamps, window film and in the pages of my journals, but I've never tried laser engraving and cutting them
until now.
I ordered some new paper samples from my supplier - a rust, a red, an orange and a gold and they are all lovely.
The gold has got a soft sheen and is beautiful when it catches the light. They already felt like treasures, but now even more so!
I added a couple of new leaves too. I drew this sycamore leaf that I found outside my house the other day
I always admire their red stems and this comes through nicely in the scarlet card.
And I drew this birch leaf with a hole in it from a photograph in my journal no.2 (page 72 if you're interested). I love a good hole in a leaf! Right now, since I started making these leaves I'm noticing holes in leaves wherever I go!
I strung the first one up as a garland today and I love it
and the leaves also look lovely just hanging in these branches that I found in the woods. We all know about Christmas trees, why not an autumn tree?....actually, an all year round tree!
After a few days of experimentation I now have so many colours and shapes and therefore lots of product variables, so now I'm stepping back to figure out how to be able to make them simply AND be able to offer up lots of lovely sets for you.
If you're not already on my Three Somethings mailing list, you can sign up here to find out about these new creations as they develop. I can't wait to show you.

I love these leaves! 🍁 🧡🤎
I have always collected seed heads for permanent room ‘decoration’ – cow parsley, hogweed and honesty etc – but hanging these leaves on simple twigs is an inspired idea for room decor too – tree decorations are for life, not just for Christmas 👍🏼🍂🍃
